Daniella + Ryan // A Convict Lake Wedding Editorial

As we rounded the corner where all the mountainous glory is revealed on Highway 395, what I saw made me nervous. It was just past noon, and already the sky was all sorts of gray and ominous. Rumor had it that it was raining more than usual in the Sierras all summer long and torrential downpours were slated for every afternoon. And well, this day…Daniella and Ryan’s wedding day…was no exception. I was nervous. And so was she…yet, all the while, she really didn’t care if her dress got wet or if the handmade pom-poms were soggy or if the candles were not lit…because she knew all she wanted (and needed) on this day…the day she’d dreamed about…was the man that she loved by her side. She knew that with him, nothing else mattered and with him they would have the one of the most memorable days of their lives. So come rain or shine Daniella was determined to have herself and grand ol’ time and so was Ryan. And well, that they did. The rain came, but so did the sun. It was glorious. Daniella and Ryan crafted an event that was all their own…chic, stylish, modern…with a twist of mountain-ness in there as well. The company made it all the sweeter…they were surrounded by their nearest and dearest who loved them so deeply because, well, they are just that awesome. AND the bridesmaids were some of my favorite yet…but then again I’m biased because I grew up with most of them. We go way back! Ha. I could go on, and on, but I’ll spare you and get to the photos. I present to you Daniella + Ryan’s Convict Lake Wedding Editorial. As always, you can view more images from their wedding and a slideshow on their website HERE.

Daniella & Ryan, thank you for being you and for inviting us into your lives. It was a joy and honor to capture your day and tell just one chapter of your story…so excited for all that is ahead. xoxo, – j.

We started the morning off with the ladies as they prepared for the big day at the Westin MonacheThe lobby has a cool sculpture of a Devil’s Post Pile  that made for a fun way to photograph Daniella’s accessories. Daniella, you are stunning!!!As Isaac finished up with the ladies, I headed over to the hang out with the Ryan and the guys. Such a stud! Ryan and I stopped off real quick to take a photo of one of Daniella’s favorite views. :-)
The couple opted for a first look to ensure that we had ample time to take photos…and it’s a good thing we did because of all the rain we had before and during the ceremony. Whew. I love this moment every.single.time!
I just love the drama in this shot. So fun. Oh stop it with your romance and such! OR go on!!!!!
I adore each and every one of these women. They are the best. All the yet-to-be-married bridesmaids already had me sign the dotted line for their weddings in 20___. I love it. The walk and laugh. Works every time!Bad ass manliness. And the flower girl was adorable…omg!

Due to a two hour long downpour, the ceremony was moved into the tent…which ended up being so intimate, romantic and cozy. Daniella said afterwards the the minute she walked in, she could feel the love and warmth of everyone all snuggled up to witness the ceremony. It was perfect. I love this moment with her and her dad…one of the sweetest men I’ve met.
They always know how to make each other laugh…And how to make each other cry…Wedding bliss…my favorite! As we made our way out of the tent, the rain had stopped and the sun was shinning. So after family photos, we booked it up to the lake for some sunset portraits and well…wow. It was gorgeous and such a great time for the two of them to sneak away and enjoy a few moments together alone (well expect for me and Isaac).
One of my favorite frames of the day. He loves her. Everso. They made their grand entrance in an awesome old car…I wish I could remember what kind it was. #mydadwouldbeashamedAnd all thanks to the first look, they were able to make it to their cocktail hour…And now onto some design pretties….
This father-daugher relationship is one of sweetest, deepest I’ve seen. I love it. Local brews…and kind words from friends and family…I’ll drink to that. Look at that sky…and that courtyard!!! So intimate and romantic. And of course, the spark—er FIREWORK–exit…Those things were nuts. And fun. Only minor flesh wounds. No big deal!

Special thanks to the amazing creative team who helped make Daniella & Ryan’s wedding all that is was!!!
