ASHLEY + FREDDY // A WEDDING EDITORIAL

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There’s something so incredibly special about photographing my friends’ weddings. It affords me opportunity to spend the day with the bride and groom in a capacity that is so intimate, personal and quite fun. It’s truly and honor and really I wouldn’t have it any other way. On Leap Day, Isaac and I were invited to photograph his best friend’s wedding and let me tell you, it was a joy and pleasure to celebrate with them and share in Ashley & Freddy’s special day. Isaac met Ashley in college, and they have been what Anne of Green Gables would call bosom friends ever since. They are hilarious together and make each other laugh over the silliest things. They have quirky traditions and ways of interacting with each other that are quite amusing. Isaac simply adores her and was smiling ear-to-ear when she asked us shoot her wedding. I too was thrilled to get to join in the fun. Isaac took the lead on this one and he did such a fabulous job and I got to take on the role of wingman. It was a nice change of base and of course, it was fun to see Isaac do his thang.

Ashley and Freddy are truly two of my favorite people and it’s been a joy to get to know them over the past year or so He  loves her in a way that is quiet and honest and sturdy. It’s evident in the way he looks at her and in the way holds her hand. And of course, Ashley is simply smitten with him and her big brown eyes light up and her nose scrunches up because she smiles so big when she sees him. I love that. She is outgoing, bubbly and energetic and he’s patient, genuine and grounded. It’s the most perfect balance and their dynamic is simply refreshing to be around. He laughs at her theatrical antics and colorful story-telling and she snuggles up on this shoulder for quiet movies nights at home. Together they are better. And together they are content and happy and all is right in their world.

And so without any further ado, I give you Ashley + Freddy’s wedding editorial. For more images, visit their website HERE.

First look right before their private temple ceremony…I love it when our couples opt to do this. Makes for such a beautiful series of images and of course, makes the day flow a whole lot more smoothly.

The moment they came out of the temple as husband and wife was so special. I just love this image of Ashley and her dad. Le sigh.

Is this not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? Gahhhh.

Our assistant Jody snapped one of us that we just LOVE. Isaac would steal her bouquet. Haha.

And our favorite part of the day…the couples portraits. We started off with a few at the Temple and then shot at Dos Lagos before a private family dinner at TAPS Fish House & Brewery.
My favorite pairing from the day. So fun.

Cool structure huh? After we were done with the couple portraits, Isaac met up with the girls, and I took the boys on a little adventure…

The shot I’d been dreaming up for a while happened so organically here and I just love it so. The private dinner was so intimate and full of beautiful words from their parents….

Next up was a dessert and dancing reception for all their friends. It was romantic, candlelit and downright fun!

What a day!!!
